I still need to figure out the whole lighting situation in the kitchen. Nilmandra, thanks! Christine, the wok grate was on back order, but it shipped today! Fried dumplings sounds like a great idea. Carroll, however you found us, I'm just glad you did! The countertop is a dark grey granite. I forget what the exact finish is called. It's not polished. I believe it's a semi-honed finish with a matte like surface. Anyway, Hungry Bear will correct me if I'm wrong.

New reader here from…oh heck…how in the world did I surf here…maybe the Vietnamese pulled pork recipe link from Blogher? Anyway, I have just *firmly* bookmarked your blog in hope that I will someday be able to wildly impress our beloved Vietnamese daughter-in-law (caramel sauce as a pantry staple? who knew!)

Have to ask about the countertop in your spectacular kitchen. Could you possibly mention what that surface material is (and how you like it)? The look is exactly what I have in mind for an eventual remodel of ours.

That double stove and rangetop of yours is killing me. And a wok grate too?! Seriously, in my dreams, my kitchen looks just like that.

I think you should pan-fry dumplings in a wok that has its OWN WOK GRATE and pour water into it using that spiffy spout you got right there. How ’bout that? Really, I’m sure whatever you make will be so much more fun with this killer kitchen.

Okay, I am not able to recommend what you should cook in your new kitchen, because I am trying to pick my jaw up from the floor after swooning over that photo! There you are! Glad to see you back. Just last night, I went to your blog because I was thinking you guys have been way too quite. Now I know why. Congratulations on your new digs! The range is to die for!!! That will be so much fun to play on. I just found some fresh local rhubarb last night and made a cobbler that was fantastic and so spring.
