Wow, that's amazing. Your story almost exactly like mine! As a kid around the same age, I was always used to the savory Chinese food my mom cooked. But after school I always went to my friend's house (or an after school program/daycare--they served lots of PB&Js there), whose dad watched me since my mom was still at work. I'm a little different in that I really hated PB&J, I couldn't understand why anyone would eat it for lunch (it was all the rage at school), but I wanted to be cool and fit in with the kids who brought bag lunches, haha. So I always wanted to like it, but never did. When I visited China (right before going to college), I fell in love with the peanut sauce used at a hot pot place, then started exploring peanut butter. I LOVE peanut butter with bananas (I thought I was crazy), but I've never tried honey with it.

Sumintra, I'm glad you discovered your love for peanut butter like I did!

Mary, round and no crust? That's one picky girl! LOL.

Christine, you're right. Elvis' thing was a grilled peanut peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Kevin, right on! I forgot to mention nutella. I have a peanut butter, nutella and banana sandwich every now and then. It's quite decadent!

I liked peanut butter but not with jelly...don't know why. My mother would always get that Goober jar that had the jelly and peanut butter together in the same jar - I still think t's still gross. That grape jelly was not cool. I didn't eat jelly or jam again until college. Anyway, I've always liked peanut butter (which we can grind ouselves at our co-op) and banana. Wasn't something like this supposed to be Elvis' favorite breakfast?

My little brother had a friend that would come home from nursery school with him and all she would eat would be peanut butter and honey. it had to be on round bread with no crusts. My mother would have to cut the bread into rounds and spread the bread with honey and then the peanut butter, never the other way around. We were a peanut butter and jelly family at the time, but had the honey and once my brother tried it, he didn't eat anything else! I've remained the peanut butter and jelly person in the famly. The only one, but i do appreciate you of the pbh groupies.

that's so funny. I have a similar experience with pb. I used to get pb and j sandwiches all the time for lunch in elementary school, but grew to hate them and refused to eat peanut butter for middle and high school (i guess about 7-8 yrs). My freshman fall in college I was reading a letter from my friend who told me she had just eaten a great peanut butter and banana sandwich. I had never had a pb and b, so I got one for lunch that day and loved it. From then on I became a huge pb and nut butter fan. I eat it every day. Trader Joe's has the best pb.

Cedar, I'll have to try it with strawberries when they are back in season.

Patty, thanks for the complements.

Patricia, that's true love!

Maria, I'll give the granny smith a try soon.

Brilynn, a pressed PB&H sandwich sounds good!

Mar, I've always eyed the almond butter but have yet to try it. I'm going to pick up a jar on my next shopping trip.

Chris, scroll down (sorry). We had the cupcakes for dessert with the pot roast.

OMG an I ever drooling right now! Grilled peanut butter & honey sandwich is what I want for my final meal on earth! Unfortunately, I have no TJ's near (others also rave about the pb) so my favorite is Skippy Natural. I never turn down a peanut butter anything---your sandwich may be my breakfast tomorrow!
