hi there, great recipe and lovely blog! i actually just received my new SLR and lowel lights and am currently spending all my waking hours fiddling around (school work? oh yeah, forgot about that). i also found the lights to be a little too bright at first, but it's all a very fun learning process :)

that's the problem of being a flogger, there are always little leftover ingredients here and there...it happens to me all the time, too, but great job in using up the ingredients with this wonderful noodle dish. By the way, I still prefer the 3rd last picture with natural light...somehow the lighting kit made the pictures look "flat." I love soft natural lighting the best...

Lydia, I love making new dishes with leftovers in the fridge. They usually aren't the prettiest meals, but the flavors are sure to be a hit.

Meena and kickpleast, it's definitely an easy thing to make on a busy weeknight!

Alice, oh yeah, I forgot the egg noodles aren't vegan.

WC, yeah, we are styling a little more these days. We are still trying to keep it simple, but it gets boring looking at the same dark background over and over. Hungry Bear is the official SND food stylist.

Steamy Kitchen, thanks, I'll shoot you a note.

Allen, sorry for the temptation. It's the best lighting I've used for night time shots to date. Compared to other lighting setups, the Ego lights are relatively inexpensive.

Jaden and Chuck are going to get me in trouble ... you're tempting me to buy more equipment :-)

Currently, I have one of those photo tents which I used for photographing items when I was a seller on eBay. I set it up on our dining room table and point a few lights at it, but the lights just aren't powerful enough to hit the right level of brightness for my tastes. I'm annoyed that my photos look too gray. It's also clunky/bulky to use.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Awesome!

try putting the lights further away and make sure you use a reflector to reflect light back in another angle. bah! I can't explain. Email me and I'll send you photo of setup

I like the comparative pictures. Nothing beats natural light. Unfortunately, I have such bad lighting in my house! :( And ego lights are too pricy for me.

The naturally-lit bowl of noodles looks warm and inviting. The others just look OK. I noticed the napkin though. You're really starting to style your food. :)
